This 2 day City & Guilds accredited course will provide the skills, knowledge, techniques, confidence and course material to run your own manual handling training sessions for the safe handling of materials and goods (rather than patients). The course will benefit those who want to become manual handling trainers as well as those who are already conducting such training but want some fresh ideas and techniques to integrate into their existing programmes &/or want refresher training and certification. All groups will gain from the confidence generated in their abilities by achieving City & Guilds certification and companies will benefit from the cost saving and flexibility associated with their own certified in-house trainers. The City & Guilds accreditation provides a nationally recognised manual handling instructor qualification. Most other courses simply use internal certification (a certificate from the training provider) or they have third party certification for a 3 hour manual handling element rather than for the whole course. Follow this link for a guide to choosing manual handling trainer training courses. Alistair Bromhead developed this course and is the only training provider able to offer the qualification which is run as both open and in-house courses. All courses are restricted to 12 delegates to ensure interactive events which are enjoyable and generate the maximum benefit for participants. Forthcoming open courses include: |

Are you complying with current noise limits? From April 2006, noise action levels were significantly reduced. Therefore, areas in which hearing protection was not previously required, may need to be designated as hearing protection zones.
In addition, new noise "limits" have been introduced relating to the maximum noise dose to which employees may be exposed after taking into account the effect of hearing protection. Therefore, the suitability of hearing protection needs to be assessed. A noise survey will identify areas in which hearing protection must be made compulsory and those in which it may remain voluntary. Such a survey is a legal requirement if employees are likely to be exposed to >80dB. Alistair Bromhead has been certified as a Competent Person for Workplace Noise Assessments by the Institute of Acoustics |
